
Flame to Host "Lay-Ups For Learning" Event March 25 at Germain Arena

FORT MYERS, Fla., March 15 - The Florida Flame, presented by Century 21 Sunbelt Realty, is partnering with the Learning For Life program and the Lee County School District for the "Lay-Ups For Learning" program on Saturday, March 25. Fans of all ages are invited to participate in the longest lay-up line in Southwest Florida history, benefiting the Lee County School District and Learning For Life.
The "Lay-Ups For Learning" event will take place at Germain Arena from 4:30-5:30 p.m. prior to the Flame's NBA Development League game versus the Roanoke Dazzle at 7 p.m. Lee County School District Superintendent Dr. Jim Browder will lead the lay-up line along with students, teachers, and administrators from around Lee County.
Fans who participate will receive a special discounted price on tickets, with $13 tickets available for only $10. Each ticket is good for participation in the "Lay-Ups For Learning" event and admission to the Flame game versus Fayetteville. Half of all money raised will be donated back to the Lee County School District and the Learning For Life program.

"Their players read to our students, partner with our Building Better Readers program and now support our character education through this partnership with Learning For Life. They have shown terrific support of our kids."
The Florida Flame is the official D-League affiliate of the NBA's Miami Heat, Boston Celtics, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Orlando Magic. Showcasing the best young talent in professional basketball outside of the NBA, the Flame play a 48-game schedule during the 2005-06 season with 23 home games at Germain Arena. Led by a group of local investors, the Flame is now in its second season of providing affordable, family entertainment to sports fans throughout Southwest Florida.
