Flame Acquires Center Corey Sanders

FORT MYERS, Fla. - According to an announcement by Head Coach Jeff Malone, the Florida Flame has acquired center Corey Sanders from the NBA Development League available player pool. Sanders takes the roster spot vacated when guard Andre Barrett earned a GATORADE Call-Up to the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday.

Sanders, a 7-0, 235-pound veteran has played the last two seasons internationally. In 2004-05 he played in Turkey for Canakkale and Tallina Ulikoolid and most recently played in Uruguay for Atletico Atenas. He has also had stints in the D-League, USBL, WBA and the ABA. His D-League experience was two games with the Mobile Revelers during the 2002-03 season where he averaged 4.0 minutes, 1.5 points and 0.5 rebounds.

Originally from Grand Rapids, Mich., Sanders finished his college career at the University of New Orleans (1999-02) after transferring from Cal State Fullerton (1997-98).

Sanders is expected to be in uniform for the Flame in their next game versus Fayetteville on February 5. He will wear jersey #15.

Florida (20-14) returns to action this Sunday, March 5, as the Flame continue their four-game homestand against the Fayetteville Patriots (6-24). Tip-off at Germain Arena is 5 p.m. ET. Florida rounds out its homestand on Tuesday, March 7 versus Fayetteville with tip-off set for 7:05 p.m. ET. The Flame will be celebrating their first annual "Faith and Family Night", which will feature a live halftime concert performance from Christian recording artist Kayla Powell.
