Five Straight Home Games Over 7,000 Fans

(Trenton, NJ) - With Saturday's attendance of 7,841, the Trenton Thunder, the Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, have drawn at least 7,000 fans in each of the last five home games making it the first time since the 2003 season that the team has accomplished that feat.
The Thunder last drew 7,000 fans in five consecutive home games in the 2003 season, when they achieved this mark twice. The first occurrence was from May 7- May 11, 2003 (Derek Jeter rehabilitation assignment), and the second took place June 27- June 29 and July 4- July 5, 2003 (Bernie Williams rehab assignment).
The last time the Thunder drew 7,000 fans in five straight home games without a Major League rehabilitation assignment was August 4 and August 11-14, 2000.
The Thunder's current six game homestand is against the Harrisburg Senators (June 30-July 3) and Altoona Curve (July 4-6). The previous homestand was against the Connecticut Defenders (June 12-14, including a June 12 doubleheader) and Reading Phillies (June 15-17).

The Thunder's season attendance total is now 226,472 with an average attendance of 5,661, the second highest in the Eastern League.
"What a fun way to head into the month of July," said Thunder General Manager Brad Taylor. "Waterfront Park is the place to be for great baseball, family fun and affordable entertainment this summer and this run of Standing Room Only crowds is evidence of that."
Earlier this season, from June 1-7, the Thunder drew at least 6,000 fans in six straight games making it the first time since the 2004 season that the team has accomplished that feat.
The Thunder began their current seven game homestand today, and will be on the road at the Harrisburg Senators from July 7-9. After the All-Star Break the Thunder will return to Waterfront Park for another seven game homestand, July 12-18.
