January 8, 2019 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada)
Sudbury Five News Release
(Greater Sudbury, ON) After splitting their weekend series against the London Lightning, the Sudbury Five return home for a Saturday evening contest against the Cape Breton Highlanders.
The Five enjoyed a strong weekend, coming from behind to beat the Lightning on Friday, before falling just short of the comeback on Sunday. Sioux City, IO native Cory Dixon enjoyed a strong weekend for the Five, scoring 23 points with eight rebounds at home Friday, before tying his season best with 26 points and 16 rebounds on Sunday.
The Five will be receiving a sizable boost to their lineup Saturday as they welcome sharp shooting guard Jaylen Bland back to the lineup. Bland missed his third straight game and his seventh of the season Sunday with a lower body injury. The Saginaw, MI native currently sits fifth in league scoring per game.
The Highlanders are one of the top teams in the National Basketball League of Canada this season. After starting the season with two wins and four losses, the Highlanders won seven straight games in November to sky rocket to second in league standings. The Highlanders are led by league leading scorer Bruce Massey, who's averaging 24.7 points per game.
Tickets for Saturday's game are available online at www.thefive.ca or in-person at the Sudbury Community Arena Box Office. Game time is 7:05 PM.
