Five Return Home for Double the Action at Sudbury Arena

February 6, 2019 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada) - Sudbury Five News Release

With the team's longest road trip of the season behind them, the Five will return home to the Sudbury Community Arena this week for two important games.

The Five won four of the team's six games on the road, leading to the team's longest winning streak in franchise history at four games. While away, the team jumped from fifth to third in the Central Division with a record of 13-13.

The Five welcome the KW Titans to the Nickel City Thursday for a 7:05 pm showdown. Thursday's game will represent the third game in the teams' three game mid-season series. The Five took the first game last Thursday, before having their winning streak snapped against the Titans on Saturday. Thursday's game will be sponsored by College Boreal, with students and staff in attendance from the college to help give away a $500 College Boreal scholarship. Donations will also be accepted for the Spectrum Group Warm Blanket and Clothing drive for the Homeless upon entry to Thursday's game.

Saturday, the Cape Breton Highlanders return to the Sudbury Community Arena for the final time this season. Since their last visit the Highlanders and Five have been tracking in opposite directions, with the Highlanders losing four of their last five games. Cape Breton is led up front by guard Bruce Massey. The Germantown, MD native is an early candidate for league MVP, averaging 24.3 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game. Saturday's game is sponsored by YIG, Your Independent Grocer, with all local stores in attendance to provide store gift cards to lucky fans in attendance.

Tickets for both games are available online at, or in person at the Sudbury Community Arena Box Office.
