Last season, he played in 24 games for the Alabama Slammers of the WHA2, and totaled 24 points on 11 goals and 13 assists. In 2002-2003, the Orland Park, Illinois native had brief stints with the Amarillo Gorillas (CHL) and Jacksonville Barracudas (ACHL).
Csumrik, 5'11", 190, should be a familiar name to long time Brahmas fans, as he skated in 64 games for the club in 2001-2002, his rookie season. He was an effective player for Fort Worth that year, posting 5 goals, 23 assists, and 102 penalty minutes. For the last two seasons, the Orillia, Ontario native has played in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL), primarily with the Alaska Aces. He was traded to the Peoria Rivermen in early March of 2004, where he played in the final 10 games of the 2003-2004 season with the Aces.
Nate Markus is a defenseman who hails from Eyota, Minnesota. In March of 2004, he closed out a four year career at the University of Findlay (NCAA Div. I-CHA) in Findlay, Ohio. In his senior season of 2004-2005, Markus had 4 goals and 15 assists in 38 games played as an assistant captain for the Oilers. For his college career, Markus totaled 40 points (5G/35A) and 104 penalty minutes in 135 regular season games played.
Al Sims, the Brahmas second year head coach, has high hopes about his newest faces.
"All five of these playersâNaumann, Reagan, Schabes, Csumrik, and Markusâhave definite potential. Given the right circumstances, I could see all of them helping our team. They all have quality experience, so they are definitely going to make our training camp very competitive," he stated.
The five signings today by the Brahmas now gives the club 21 players under contract for the upcoming 2004-2005 CHL season.
