Five Des Moines Buccaneers Make USHL All Star Team

Des Moines, Iowa - January 10, 2006 - The United States Hockey League (USHL) today announced that five Des Moines Buccaneers are among the 40 players chosen to play on two 2006 USHL Prospects/All-Star teams. The two squads, representing both the Eastern ("Blue") and Western ("White") conferences, will go head-to-head at the Tyson Events Center's Gateway Arena in Sioux City, Feb. 7.
Among the forwards joining the All-Star team are the Des Moines Buccaneers' Trevor Lewis (Murray, Utah) and Kyle Okposo (St. Paul, Minn.). Lewis is currently first among all USHL scorers with 42 goals and a plus/minus rating of +25. Meanwhile, Okposo is ranked third overall in points with 41 and the highest plus-minus rating in the league with a +30.
Buccaneer defensemen Chase Ryan (Algonquin, Ill.) and Jeff Petry (Farmington Hills, Mich.) also took top spots with the Eastern Conference team. Ryan currently has 10 assists and an overall 11 points with a +21 rating while Petry has one goal and a +10 rating.
Buccaneer goalie Troy Davenport (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.), who has recorded a 2.33 GAA and .930 save percentage for Des Moines, will backstop the Blue team.
"These five individuals are all very deserving of the honor," said Regg Simon, coach and general manager of the Des Moines Buccaneers. "They've all had great seasons to this point and the fact that five of them are in the All-Star game is also a testament to their teammates, as well."
The Prospects / All-Star Game roster is selected by the USHL in conjunction with the NHL's Central Scouting service. An average of 12 to 15 players of the 40 man roster are selected specifically by the NHL Central Scouting Service.
