
Five Akron Racers honored as members of 2004 league All-Star team

AKRON, Ohio - July 7, 2004 - The National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) league office, based in Denver, Colorado, has released the names of the players who have been selected to the 2004 NPF All-Star Team.
Five Akron Racers starters have been honored as NPF All-Stars and will represent Akron in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at Hall of Fame Stadium during the All-Star festivities July 12-14. The Racers are currently in first place in the NPF standings with a two game lead.
NPF leader with a .389 batting average and the June 16 NPF Player of the Week, center fielder Iyhia McMichael, is Akron's first representative to the East Division All-Star Team. McMichael was a two-time All-American at Mississippi State University and the first ever two-time SEC Player of the Year.
All-American and SEC Player of the Year at Louisiana State University, right fielder Trena Peel, All-American catcher at the University of Oregon Jenn Poore, two-time All-American second baseman from Florida State University Brandi Stuart, and All-Big 12 first baseman at the University of Nebraska Nicole Trimboli will also represent Akron as 2004 NPF All-Stars.
Joining the Racers players in Oklahoma City will be the Akron support staff. Field Manager Judy Martino, Assistant Coach Margaret Sutter, Trainer Valerie Holbrook and Manager Jodi Stevens will serve as the support staff on the NPF East Division All-Star Team due to the Racers success this season.
The Racers return to action on Thursday, July 15 at Firestone Stadium when they take on the second place New York/New Jersey Juggernaut at 7:05 p.m. The Racers will be recognizing area churches, state runner-up Lake Blue Streaks girls' softball and the Great American Premier Softball Showcase at NPF showdown on Thursday.
