Five Acquire Player Right of Malcolm Duvivier

August 22, 2019 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada) - Sudbury Five News Release

(Sudbury, ON) The Sudbury FIVE announce that they have traded the player rights of Chris Johnson to the Halifax Hurricanes. In return, the Hurricanes will send the Sudbury Five the player rights of guard Malcolm Duvivier. The 6'2" Toronto native averaged 8 points per game during the 2018-19 National Basketball League of Canada (NBLC) season.

Duvivier attended Oregon State University from 2013 to 2016 before finishing his University career at the University of Akron. During the 2017-18 season with Akron, Duvivier averaged 14.3 points per game.

A former member of the U-16 and U-17 Junior Canadian National Teams, Duvivier represented the U-16 Team Canada in the 2011 FIBA Americas with a Bronze Medal win. He was also named to the NBLC All- Rookie Team this past spring.

Sudbury Five Head Coach Logan Stutz is looking forward to what Duvivier may bring, "A lot caught my eye about Malcolm last year, but if I had to sum it all up in one word it would be, toughness. He's a tough Canadian and that style is the exact direction The Five will be going next year. He shot 43% from three for the regular season and plays great defense. I am really excited that we were able to acquire his rights."
