First Round Series Shifts to Johnstown for Game Three

April 11, 2014 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Port Huron Fighting Falcons News Release

JOHNSTOWN, PA -  The Port Huron Fighting Falcons, proud members of the North American Hockey League and 2013-14 North Division champions, face off against the Johnstown Tomahwks in game three of their first-round matchup in the 2014 Robertson Cup Playoffs tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Cambria County War Memorial in Johnstown, PA.

The Fighting Falcons hold a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series, as they won games one and two at McMorran Arena last week. A win tonight would complete the sweep, while a loss would force a game four matchup tomorrow at 7 p.m. in Johnstown.

Port Huron's wins each came by just one goal, with a 3-2 win last Thursday and a 4-3 overtime thriller last Friday. In a pair of physical games, the Fighting Falcons and Tomahawks have combined for more penalty minutes than any other first-round matchup in the NAHL with 129 total minutes.

Johnstown has piled up a league-high 91 penalty minutes through two games, including 71 in game two.

None of Port Huron's top six goal scorers have lit the lamp through the first two games of this series, and all seven goals have been scored by players who are new to the team this season. Bryce VanHorn and Elliot Tisdale have two goals apiece, with Jon Hall, Noah Batis and Lucas Little chipping in one goal each.

Tisdale's goals have come on his only two shots of the series. His first goal since joining the Fighting Falcons at the trade deadline tied game two, and his second ended the battle in overtime.

Little is second among NAHL defensemen with three playoff points on a goal and two assists in game two.

Port Huron's defense has held Johnstown to just 57 shots so far in the series, and goaltenders Max Milosek and Alex Blankenburg have stopped 52 of them.

Johnstown's Brett Young has made 80 saves through two games, including a franchise record 48 in game two, but has two losses to show for his effort.

If the Fighting Falcons end the series with a win tonight or Saturday, they will host the winner of the other North Division playoff series between the Michigan Warriors and the Janesville Jets in round two next weekend. The Warriors hold a 2-0 lead in that series, with game three set for tonight in Janesville.

If Johnstown manages to take both games this weekend, game five would take place Monday, April 14 at McMorran Arena at 7 p.m.
