First-Place Admirals Start Three-Game Homestand
The first-place Admirals begin their first three-game stint at home tonight, and each contest will make Pacific Association history. Thursday and Friday mark the first two meetings in history between the Admirals and the expansion Napa Silverados. Saturday, we'll see the first-year Martinez Clippers play their first-ever game at Wilson Park.
During the weekend, the club bid a fond farewell to reigning league MVP Tillman Pugh, who has signed on with the Ottawa Champions of the Can-Am League. We wish Tillman the very best and thank him for his class and excellence, on and off the field, during his time in an Admirals uniform. In Ottawa Tillman reunites with Mike Blanke, an Admirals catcher during the 2017 title run.
Thirsty Thursday and Mezklas Catering are back tonight, as we give a nod to our local grads and alums with our College Night. Friday is Scout Night, as we salute all the girls and boys who engage in helpful, civic-minded activities, and the adults who assist them in becoming model citizens. Saturday features the return of our Home Run Derby, with special features for all our young fans. Children will have a chance to run the bases after the game, and Krystle Properties presents our first Hot Dogs for Kids promotion.
Even though the Admirals dropped two contests to the Pittsburg Diamonds this week, the team remains in first place and has a chance to make hay this weekend against the league's upstarts. Keep an eye on outfielder d'Aundray Van Slyke - his three circus catches at the fence in Pittsburg this week were sights to behold. Simon de la Rosa joins our pitching staff from the New York Yankees system, and one-time Arizona Wildcat and Bay Area native Ryan Cooper is suiting up to catch. It's an exciting time to be an Admiral - join us!
