Pittsfield Colonials News Release
The Pittsfield Colonials will host the inaugural Colonial Classic, a high school baseball doubleheader featuring four teams from Berkshire County on May 20. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Jimmy Fund.
The event kicks off at 5 p.m. as Wahconah will take on St. Joseph's. In the nightcap, Pittsfield will square off against Taconic. No admission will be charged for the event, but donations for the Jimmy Fund will be accepted. The Jimmy Fund is the official charity of the Pittsfield Colonials.
"As a high school baseball player in Pittsfield it was always a big deal to play at Wahconah Park, especially under the lights," said Colonials Assistant to the General Manager Nick Avanzato. "We are excited to give the kids this great opportunity to showcase their skills while also showcasing the upgrades we've made to our ballpark."
In addition to the games, several other special events are planned throughout the evening including honoring the Taconic wrestling team, which is made up of both Taconic and Pittsfield students.
The Pittsfield Colonials will open up their second season on May 26 against the New Jersey Jackals. The Colonials will play 54 home games at Wahconah Park this season. For information on season tickets, the 1791 Club or partnerships with the Colonials, call 413-236-2961.
