Florida Firecats News Release

Estero, FL- The arenafootball2 (af2) Florida Firecats announced today that they are teaming up with the Harry Chapin Food Bank to collect canned food items during their May 16th game against the Spokane Shock. Fans who bring a non-perishable food item will receive a $5 discount on tickets purchased the day of the game.

"As an organization we wanted to try and help people in need," said Firecats Owner Andrew Vallozzi. "Southwest Florida has been hit hard by unemployment and the threat of foreclosures this year. You never know who is going to need a little help; sometimes it's the people who live right next door to you. We want to give our fans the opportunity to make a difference in our community by helping out their friends and neighbors."

The Florida Firekittens and Blaze will be on hand to help collect food items at the Germain Arena doors. The items will then be delivered to the Harry Chapin Food Bank to be distributed to the agencies that the organization serves.

"The need for food has never been greater than now. Many of our neighbors are experiencing difficulties feeding their families," said Al Brislain, Executive Director of the Harry Chapin Food Bank. "The Florida Firecats' Food Drive will certainly help to support those in need. We thank them for their willingness to help others."

The Firecats host the Spokane Shock on Saturday May 16th. Kick off is scheduled for 7:30pm. Call 239-390-CATS (2287) to reserve your seats or visit the team online at www.FloridaFirecats.com. Fans can listen to the game on Fox Sports 1200/1460am.
