
Firecats Game to be Highlighted on Reality TV Show

Estero, FL- This weeks' Firecats game against the Louisville Fire will serve as the back drop to a new Reality TV Show focused on creating a new af2 team.
Open tryouts are being held in 6 southern cities including Tampa and Ft. Lauderdale. Seventy-two athletes drawn from the tryouts will hold camp in Tampa. The Seventy-two athletes will be cut down using a reality TV format to create to two teams of 20 men each.
The challenge will conclude with the two teams playing a game against each other. The best players from both teams will combine to form an af2 team that will compete against the rest of the league during the 2007 season.
One team will be coached by former two time AFC coach of the year Ron Meyer and his long time NFL assistant Steve Sidwell. The other team will be coached by Orlando Predator coach and AFL hall of fame Quarterback Jay Gruden and Tampa Bay Storm coach Tim Marcum.
A camera crew will be at Germain Arena this weekend to shoot footage for the Firecats game against Louisville to use in the show.
"We're looking for lots of scoring, big hits and a raucous crowd," said George Caldwell one of the creators of the show. "We've been through 4 cities in 4 days and have seen some very talented kids. With this weeks' game having a playoff atmosphere we felt it would provide the kind of excitement we're looking for in the show."
Tryouts have already been held in Houston and Bedford Texas, New Orleans and Atlanta. The Final 2 workouts will be held in Ft Lauderdale Monday July 24th and in Tampa Tuesday July 25th. The Firecats will play their final home game of the regular season this week when they host the Louisville Fire in a rematch of the 2005 American Conference Championship game. A win this week would clinch home field advantage throughout the playoffs for Florida.

This week fans will also be able to view the game online by logging onto www.af2.com. Last week was the 1st time in team history a Firecats game has been video streamed around the world.
The Firecats will wrap up the regular season next week on the road against South Georgia.
