SOUTHAVEN, Miss â Canion Lamb had six TD catches as he led the Florida Firecats to a 53-42 victory over the Memphis Xplorers. With the win the Firecats improved to 2-2, while Memphis dropped to 1-3. The Xplorers came into the game ranked fourth in af2 in scoring defense, but the Firecats moved the ball at will. Florida scored on nine of 10 possessions and totaled 259 yards of total offense.
Lamb had three TD catches in each half as he finished with 11 receptions for 156 yards. Firecats QB Bryan Sparacino went 21-33 for 232 yards and threw all six TD passes to Lamb before leaving with an injury in the fourth quarter.
Adrian Burnette led the Xplorers' attack. Burnette had seven catches for 60 yards and one TD. Kevin Prentiss had 99 yards receiving on five catches for two TDs. QB Rod Robinson was 21-32 for 243 yards and four TDs.
The Xplorers had a chance late in the game, but Roy Stabler intercepted a Robinson pass in the end zone with less than two minutes to play and Florida marched to the game clinching field goal. The Xplorers have lost 14 of their last 16 games dating back to last season.
