Firecats Arena Announcer Headed to Arena Cup

Published on August 22, 2006 under arenafootball2 (af2) News Release

ESTERO, Fl "" Florida Firecats Arena Announcer Allyn Black has been selected by the league to be the official Public Address announcer for the 2006 Arena Cup this Saturday August 26th in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

A familiar voice to Firecats fans, Allyn has been the teams voice inside Germain Arena since their inaugural season.

"He really gets our crowd going and is a big part of why our team has been so successful at home," said Firecats President and GM Chris Vallozzi. "We have the best fans in the league and when they are loud and behind our team this becomes one of the toughest places to play in the entire af2."

This will be Allyn's 2nd Arena Cup, he also manned the mic in 2004 when the Firecats hosted and defeated the Peoria Pirates for the championship.

Last season the af2 moved the championship game to a neutral site in Shreveport, LA. In previous years the championship game had been held at the higher seeded conference champions' home arena.

"We're extremely proud of the work that Allyn does and this is not only an honor for him to be recognized as one of the best in the league at what he does, but also an honor for the entire organization." Vallozzi added.

Allyn has long been a fixture in Southwest Florida and not just to Firecats fans, for the past 20 years he has worked in radio and television. He provides traffic information to thousands of area drivers daily on both television and radio as the Director of Operations for Westwood One locally.

The Florida Firecats finished the 2006 season with a 14-4 record, including the playoffs, winning the South Division for the 3rd straight year.

The Firecats are 14-2 at home in the regular season the last 2 years combined.
