Firecats Add Familiar Names and Faces to 2007 Roster

Estero, FL- With the start of the 2007 season just 2 months away, the Florida Firecats announced that this years' team will look a lot like that of the 2006 season, including many of the same faces. The following players have signed to play with the Firecats again this season.

#1 Magic Benton "" The franchises' and af2's all-time leading receiver in yards, receptions and touchdowns is returning for his 7th season. Magic remains the only player to have been on the Firecats roster since the team's inaugural game in 2001.

#2 Chris Wallace "" Last season he became the 1st QB in af2 history to throw 100 TD passes in one season. Wallace led the leagues #1 scoring offense (59.2 points per game) while guiding the Firecats to their 3rd straight American Conference Championship game.

#4 Ethenic Sands "" Sands will suit up for his 3rd season with the Firecats. The former Miami Hurricane finished 2nd on the team hauling in 89 passes for 895 yards and 31 TD's last year.

#9 Quincy Sorrell "" "Q" broke his own team record with 102 tackles last season and once again became the af2's all-time leading tackler with 389.5 career stops after relinquishing the crown in 2005.

#11 Brent Burnside "" a true af2 veteran, Burnside will be playing in his 8th season in the deuce. The 2004 Arena Cup MVP and Ironman of the Game; has 20 career interceptions ranking him among the league's top 10.

#56 Raymond James "" James returns for his 3rd season with Florida. Last season he anchored an offensive line that paved the way for the leagues leading rusher and gave up the second fewest sacks (8) in the af2.

#90 Kenny Saro "" Saro, the Firecats lone international player, made his impact on Special Teams where he consistently made the big hit forcing 3 fumbles and racking up 14 tackles.

#96 Comone Fisher "" The Firecats all-time sacks leader (14) led the team with 5 and added 2 blocked kicks, a forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries and an interception. On offense he caught 3 TD receptions and became the af2's first lineman to win the "Catch if the Week" award.

"Last year we had a great mix of af2 veterans to go along with rookies that were hungry and really contributed from day one," said Head Coach Kevin Bouis. "I'd like to have that same kind of mix again this year. Getting these guys back is a big key."
