Florida Firecats News Release

Estero, FL- The Florida Firecats will have Defensive Lineman Antonio Dingle back for the 2007 season. The 6'3" 310 Nose Tackle from Virginia played as the Firecats Defensive Line Specialist last year racking up 21.5 tackles including 5 for losses, 4 and a half sacks, 1 fumble and 3 blocked kicks. This will be his 3rd season with Florida.

"He gets such a good push up front at the point of attack," said Firecats Assistant Head Coach Victor Hall. "He's exactly the kind of guy you want to give you that penetration up the middle and put pressure on the Quarterback. Our defense is built upon making teams get rid of the ball quickly and Antonio has been a big part of our success the last 2 years."

Dingle has 4 years of af2 experience having played for the Tulsa Talons in 2004 leading the team with 7 sacks. He also played for Oklahoma City, Rochester and Greensboro before landing in Southwest Florida in 2005. Antonio has 29 tackles, 5 sacks and 4 blocked kicks during his Firecats career.

Antonio was originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1999 and later played in the NFL with the Green Bay Packers and the Carolina Panthers. Dingle also spent time with the Scottish Claymores in NFL Europe; he was the leader of the Defensive Line known as "The Hounds" which racked up an amazing 44 sacks in 2000. He was named to the Claymores 10 Seasons All-Star team, recognizing the best players at each position in the franchises' history.
