Albany/Indiana Firebirds News Release

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana Firebirds announced today that they have signed two wide receiver/defensive backs, both of whom played the 2003 season in NFL Europe. WR/DB's Jordan Younger and Adesola "Dee" Moronkola will both be added to the team's active roster and are in Indianapolis this week attending mini-camp.

Younger (5'11, 185) has spent the past three seasons playing in NFL Europe, most recently with the Amsterdam Admirals in 2003. While with the Admirals this past season, Younger recorded 25.0 total tackles (22 solo), seven pass deflections and one interception. In 2001 and 2002, Younger was an All-NFLEL team member as a special teams player. In two seasons, Younger returned 35 kickoffs for 790 yards and recorded 57 punts for a total of 500 yards. In 2001 he ranked third in the league with a 10.1-yard punt return average and fourth with a 21.3-yards kick return average. For the three years, Younger amassed 52.0 total tackles, 11 pass deflections and two interceptions.

Originally signed by the Arizona Cardinals as a free agent in 2000, Younger started 27 of 35 games during his college career at University of Connecticut, finishing with 144 tackles (111 solo), 15 passes defended, six interceptions, two forced fumbles and 8.0 tackles for loss. He holds the school's record for return touchdowns in a career with four (three punts, one kickoff) and ranked second in the country during his junior season with a 15.9-yard punt return average.

Moronkola (5'9, 190) was a seventh-round draft pick (242nd overall) by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 1999, following a stellar career at Washington State. He spent the season on the Jaguars injured-reserve list, before being released prior to the start of the 2000 season. Moronkola was signed to the Oakland Raiders practice squad in 2000 and then by the San Francisco 49ers during the following off-season. "Dee" was allocated to the Berlin Thunder (NFLEL) by the Niners, but instead signed with the B.C Lions (CFL) for the 2003 season.

A native of Richmond, CA, Moronkola started 24 of 38 games as a cornerback and kick returner at WSU. While setting the school record with his 27.2 kick return average, he finished his career with 118 tackles, seven interceptions and amassed 1,005 via kickoff returns (4th in school history). He appeared in four games as a true freshman, played in every game as a sophomore and started every game in his junior and senior year.

The Firebirds will wrap-up their first-ever team mini-camp Saturday and will re-convene in January for training camp with their 37-man roster.
