
Destroyers Add Four to Roster

COLUMBUS, OH â The Columbus Destroyers of the Arena Football League have signed four players to free agent contracts, including former Ohio State University receiver Reggie Germany. Joining Germany, who will line up as an offensive specialist for the Destroyers, is wide receiver/linebacker Sedrick Robinson, wide receiver/defensive back Von Keith Spencer, and offensive/defensive/lineman Bill Gassen.
Germany (6-1, 190) joins the Destroyers after spending one season with the NFL's Buffalo Bills. A seventh round selection in the 2001 NFL Draft, Germany played in all 16 games and started one for the Bills during the 2001 season, catching 12 passes for 203 yards. Prior to entering the NFL, Germany was a standout at Ohio State, starring for the Buckeyes from 1997-2000. He caught 80 passes in his career for 1,268 yards and six touchdowns during his Buckeye career.
Robinson (5-10, 185) spent the past two seasons with the Las Vegas Gladiators. The three-year AFL veteran was a solid performer in all three aspects of the game last year for the Gladiators. In 2003, Robinson established himself as one of the top returners in the league after returning 73 kickoffs (5th in AFL) for 1,581 yards (5th in AFL) and four touchdowns (T-3rd in AFL). He also caught 62 passes for 611 yards and six touchdowns and rushed the ball 20 times for 78 yards and nine touchdowns on his way to finishing 6th in the AFL in all-purpose yards (2,399). Defensively, he recorded 24 tackles along with a pass deflection and fumble recovery.
Spencer (5-11, 180) begins his first season in the AFL after most recently playing for the Rochester Brigade of arenafootball2. Prior to entering the professional ranks, Spencer enjoyed a standout career as a cornerback and punt returner at North Carolina A&T State University.
Gassen (6-1, 295) enters his first season in the AFL after a successful collegiate career at the University of South Dakota. As a senor for the Coyotes, Gassen led the North Central Conference in tackles for a loss (23), recorded 81 tackles (46 solo), and had five sacks. His career totals include 199 tackles (102 solo), 13 sacks, four forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.
The Columbus Destroyers kick off the 2004 season Saturday, February 7 at Indiana followed by the inaugural home opener Friday, February 13 hosting Carolina.
