Albany Firebirds News Release
ALBANY, NY - The Albany Firebirds of arenafootball2 announced today that the team will host an Albany Firebirds Reunion on Saturday, June 13, 2009. The club will honor former players with events scheduled for Friday and Saturday evening, culminating at the Times Union Center home game against Mahoning Valley at 7:00 p.m.
The list of expected returning birds includes Fred Gayles, Myron Jefferson, Rodney Smith, Mark Valvo-Biggs, Pete Porcelli, Mitch Suplee, current Birds coaches Chad Dukes, Charlie Davidson and Tony Bowick to name a few. Future announcements of additional attendees will be forthcoming.
Festivities will commence with a Welcome Back Reception at Kelsey's Bar, the site of the original Firebirds Post-Game Party, located at The Crowne Plaza Albany on Friday June 12, 2009 from 6-9pm! Kelsey's will offer an extensive buffet consisting of a carving station and a pasta station, along with a combination of hot and cold appetizers for just $5.00 to all Firebird fans. Drink specials will be provided as well. The Crowne Plaza Albany is located on State & Lodge Streets in Albany, NY 12207 and can be reached at (518) 462-6611.
Then the Firebirds old and new will head to the Pre-Game Block Party on South Pearl Street beginning at 5:30pm on Saturday. There will be an alumni table for autographs and meet-n-greets with all fans in attendance at the block party, which will also feature the 4th Annual Battle of the Bones and a live performance from Stuck On Stupid. Game time is 7:00pm and the team is planning festivities throughout the game to honor the players and the hampionship-winning history of the franchise.
The Albany Firebirds return to the Times Union Center to take on the Milwaukee Iron on Saturday, May 30th at 7:00 p.m. All games can be viewed at www.albanyfirebirds.com.
