
Dusters to hold second annual Football Camp

Amarillo, TX 5/21/09 - The af2's Amarillo Dusters are always looking for opportunities to reach out to the Amarillo community, particularly kids. The team will host its second annual football camp, the 2009 Dusters Football Camp, for kids ages 7-14 years old.
"Our players and coaches are strong role models," said Dusters General Manger Joe Morgado. "Our staff has unique skills that will be invaluable to these young athletes."
The camp will be held June 8-10 at the Amarillo Civic Center from 10 am - 2 pm. The registration fee for the camp is $65.00, which includes football instruction by Dusters players and coaches, a t-shirt, and four game tickets to the Dusters game on June 13 versus Bossier-Shreveport.
"The camp will feature top notch players and coaches from the Dusters," said Morgado. "The event will create a professional-like atmosphere and give the kids a hands-on experience."
Participates will receive top notch tutelage by Dusters Head Coach Ben Bennett, Wide Receivers & Defensive Backs Coach Jerrian James, and Line Coach Randy Gouard.
Coach Bennett, who earned accolades as one of the best quarterbacks in Arena Football history, has been coaching af2 football since 2002. A graduate of Duke, where he played under Steve Spurrier, Bennett was taken in the sixth round of the 1984 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons. He went on to play with Chicago, Dallas, Orlando, San Jose, and Portland in the AFL, compiling 14,168 passing yards and 267 touchdowns over his ten year career. Three times he earned First-Team All-Arena accolades from 1988-1997. Bennett is in the Arena Football Hall of Fame, after having been inducted in 2000.
26th Amusements, Quick Quack Car Wash, Parker Orthopedic, and Falcon Welding will sponsor the 2009 Dusters Football Camp, which will include 4 game tickets and a t-shirt to the June 13th home game versus Bossier-Shreveport. The $65-registration deadline is June 4th, 2009.
