February 11, 2003 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Albany/Indiana Firebirds News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana Firebirds of the Arena Football League have launched their own fan rewards program entitled "Frequent Flyers". "Frequent Flyers is designed to reward fans for attending games, watching TV games, purchasing ticket packages and merchandise, attending sponsored events, and more. Fans collect points for participating in certain activities and redeem their points online at www.Firebirds.com/rewards for rewards such as autographed items, trips, tickets, and unique experiences that cannot be purchased in a store.
"I'm extremely excited about the launch of Frequent Flyers. We are the first professional sports team in the Indianapolis sports market to offer a Fan Rewards program," said Joe Hennessy, General Manager of the Indiana Firebirds. "Sports Fans USA will help us develop a fan friendly loyalty program that will boost our revenue, keep current fans and encourage new fans to attend games,"
TruGreen ChemLawn has been named the title sponsor of the Frequent Flyers Club, providing a unique opportunity for both the Firebirds and TruGreen. "We believe in the program, said Regional Marketing Manager Kerry Tidwell. In today's economy, customers want to be recognized for their continued business. We believe that the Frequent Flyers Club does that. Also, this will give TruGreen Chemlawn the opportunity to participate in a program that is geared toward our local community."
Beyond encouraging fan loyalty, the Frequent Flyers program is designed to develop the broadest and deepest database of sports fans in the Midwest and to enhance revenue within the Firebirds organization, including creating new integrated advertising vehicles for sponsors, increasing tickets sales, and maximizing e-commerce and merchandise revenues. Though a variety of rewards will be added throughout the season, some of the initial Frequent Flyer awards include a day with the Firebirds front office staff, Firebirds merchandise, dinner with the GM, a player, or coach, and two tickets to a Firebirds' road game with transportation to the game included. When fans sign up to become a Frequent Flyers member, they will immediately start earning points.
