Albany Firebirds News Release
ALBANY, NY - The Albany Firebirds of arenafootball2 announced today that, in partnership with the United State Marine Corps, Firebirds players will join Marines on visits to Capital Region high schools with the goal of promoting health and fitness to students via the "Combat Fitness Test" Challenge. The first visits are scheduled for Tuesday, May 5th at Bethlehem High School and Wednesday, May 6th at Burnt Hills High School with Fireibrds WR Irani DeAraujo, DB Kenney Williams and OL Tim Johnson scheduled to work with the students.
All Marines must pass the difficult Marine Corps' Combat Fitness Test, which simulates the stresses and demands of real-life missions. This test has been modified for the purpose of the Challenge and to accommodate the physical requirements of high school students and to promote an active and fit lifestyle for youth.
Four High Schools have already signed up for the Challenge and the Firebirds expect to visit many more during the 2009 season. Interested schools can sign up for the Challenge by contacting Eric Grundfast in the Firebirds front office at 518-487-2213.
The Albany Firebirds hit the road for a Week 7 match-up with the Bossier Shreveport Battle Wings on Saturday, May 9th at 8:00 p.m. All games can be viewed at www.albanyfirebirds.com. Partial season ticket packages and single game tickets are now on sale, for more information please contact the Firebirds at (518) 487-2244 or online at www.albanyfirebirds.com.
