
Fire battle Sounders FC to scoreless draw

SEATTLE (July 25, 2009) - The Chicago Fire (7-3-8, 29 pts.) played the Seattle Sounders FC (7-3-8, 29 pts.) to a 0-0 tie today on the road at Qwest Field in Seattle, Washington. With the tie, the Fire remain in first place in the Eastern Conference standings. Both teams played with 10 men on the field throughout most of the second half of the game as Fire midfielder John Thorrington and Seattle midfielder Freddie Ljungberg were both ejected from the match within five minutes of each other. Fire goalkeeper Jon Busch posted his sixth shutout of the season with five saves in the game.
