Port Huron Fighting Falcons News Release

PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Fighting Falcons, proud members of the North American Hockey League, return to McMorran Arena for their first home action of 2014 when they host the Janesville Jets this Friday and Saturday. Opening faceoff for each game is set for 7 p.m.

One lucky fan will win $1 per person in attendance during "Jackpot Friday, with the prize pot growing for each ticket sold to the game. Saturday night the Fighting Falcons are offering the Family Four Pack, which includes four tickets to the game, four hot dogs and four fountain drinks for just $34.

The Fighting Falcons split a mid-week series in Springfield, Illinois against the Jr. Blues, and will complete a stretch of four games in five nights this weekend.

Port Huron leads the NAHL's North Division with 45 points and an overall record of 19-7-7, and are just one point behind Fairbanks and Amarillo for the top spot in the league's overall standings. Janesville is currently in fifth place in the North, with 33 points and a record of 16-14-1. The Jets have been one of the hottest teams in the NAHL, winning eight of their last ten games.

The weekend series will be the first matchup between these teams since the Fighting Falcons earned a sweep on the road in Janesville in mid-November. Port Huron set a season high in scoring during a 10-4 win to complete the weekend sweep.

Forward Matt Seidel set a Fighting Falcons franchise record with six points on four goals and two assists in that game. Seidel's six-point game is the highest single-game mark in the NAHL this season.

Following the weekend sweep, the Fighting Falcons and Jets have gone in separate directions, with the Fighting Falcons struggling while the Jets have found a rhythm. Port Huron is just 4-5-3 since their last matchup with the Jets, while Janesville has gone 9-2-0, and come to McMorran Arena riding a five-game winning streak.

Goalie Alex Blankenburg will make his return to home ice this weekend after missing a month with an injury. Blankenburg is undefeated at McMorran Arena this season and 10-1-0 overall.

The Fighting Falcons lead the NAHL in scoring, netting 110 goals at a clip of 3.33 per game. They have the fewest regulation losses in the league, and have lost by more than one goal just twice through 33 games this season.

Port Huron has led the North Division since opening night of the 2013-14 season, and currently hold a three-point lead over second-place Johnstown.

Tickets to any Fighting Falcons home game are available at the McMorran Arena Box Office, starting at just $7 for seniors, students and military. For more information, call the team's front office at (810) 966-3800.
