Port Huron Fighting Falcons News Release
PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Fighting Falcons, proud members of the North American Hockey League, will host the Johnstown Tomahawks this weekend in the final regular-season series between the North Division rivals. The teams will face off Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. at McMorran Arena in downtown Port Huron.
The Fighting Falcons (23-10-7, 53 points) have held the top spot in the North Division standings since an opening weekend sweep over the Tomahawks (22-19-2, 46 points) back in September. Port Huron is 5-3-2 against Johnstown this season, and 2-2 in four home games against the Tomahawks.
The Tomahawks have struggled of late, having won just two of their nine games this month, and losing three straight. They dropped from second place in the divisional standings to fourth after being swept at home by the Michigan Warriors last weekend.
Port Huron and Johnstown split a weekend series at McMorran Arena earlier this month, with the Tomahawks taking a 4-2 win Friday, January 17 before goalie Max Milosek and the Fighting Falcons earned a 5-0 shutout Saturday, January 18. Milosek has shutouts in each of his last two home starts, and has four of Port Huron's five wins against the Tomahawks this season.
Zach Badalamenti leads the way for Port Huron with ten points on four goals and six assists in ten games against Johnstown this season. Badalamenti had a goal and two assists during the last series against the Tomahawks.
Port Huron was idle last weekend, with some players heading home for the weekend while others spent the time volunteering at Silver Sticks, St. Clair's Winter Whiteout and Port Huron's Chilly Fest. The North Division standings were totally shaken up during the weekend, as both the Michigan Warriors and Soo Eagles overtook Johnstown.
The Warriors now sit five points behind the Fighting Falcons, and have won five games in a row. The Eagles jumped into third place, winning five of their last six. The Fighting Falcons and the Warriors each have three games in hand over the Eagles and Tomahawks.
The next Fighting Falcons victory will be number 100 in franchise history. To celebrate, the team will hold a drawing for a $100 prize at the first home game following win #100. To enter, fans can submit a memory of their favorite Fighting Falcons win to the team's Facebook (Port Huron Fighting Falcons - NAHL) or Twitter (@PHhockeyNAHL) page.
One lucky fan will win $1 per person in attendance in the Jackpot Friday promotion this weekend. A fan-led initiative has set a goal of 2,000 fans at Friday's game to set a Fighting Falcons franchise attendance record.
After winners in two of the last three Chuck-a-Puck contests, the prize pot will restart this weekend. To keep up with demand, the Fighting Falcons have doubled their inventory of pucks, doubling the potential prize per night in the process.
Tickets to any Fighting Falcons home game are available at the McMorran Arena Box Office starting at just $7 for seniors, students and military. For more information, call the front office at (810) 966-3800.
