Port Huron Fighting Falcons News Release

PORT HURON, MI -  The Port Huron Fighting Falcons, proud members of the North American Hockey League and 2013-14 North Division champions, play the first of three games against the Michigan Warriors to end the regular season tonight at Perani Arena in Flint at 7 p.m. The North Division's top two teams will also face off Friday at 7 p.m. at McMorran Arena, and Saturday at 7 p.m. in Flint.

While the Fighting Falcons wrapped up the division title last weekend, the Warriors are still in the midst of a battle for home ice advantage in the first round of the 2014 Robertson Cup Playoffs. Michigan is just two points ahead of the surging Janesville Jets, who have gone 8-1-1 in their last ten games.

Port Huron and Michigan have one win apiece in just two matchups in 2014, and the Fighting Falcons are 3-4-2 against the Warriors this season. Tonight is the first time the Fighting Falcons will play at Perani Arena since early December. The Warriors have won three of four at home against the Fighting Falcons this season, including a pair of shootout wins.

Vito Aluia leads all active Fighting Falcons with seven points on two goals and five assists in nine games against the Warriors this season. However, Aluia is one of five Fighting Falcons scheduled for a night off tonight as Port Huron looks to rest some players this week with playoff action on the horizon. Bryan Yim, Zach Badalamenti, Alex Archibald and Jonathan Kopacka will also sit out tonight.

Garrett Halford, who the Fighting Falcons have signed to a tender agreement for next season, will suit up as an affiliate player tonight, as his season with Honeybaked has come to an end. Cody Antonini, who just missed making the 2013-14 Fighting Falcons roster out of training camp, will also get his first taste of NAHL action.

Alex Blankenburg, who is 2-1-0 against the Warriors this season, will get the start in net for Port Huron.

Zach Szajner's eight points on three goals and five assists lead the Warriors, whose magic number for clinching second place in the division sits at three.

The game between Port Huron and Michigan is the only North Division game tonight, following Janesville's 2-1 win over the Springfield Jr. Blues last night.

Tickets to the final Fighting Falcons home game of the 2013-14 regular season this Friday are available at the McMorran Arena Box Office, starting at just $7 for seniors, students and military. For more information, call the team's front office at (810) 966-3800.

Tickets for the first round of the 2014 Robertson Cup Playoffs are also on sale now at the McMorran Arena Box Office. Dates and opponents are still yet to be determined, but tickets for game one and two of the first round are available at the box office, starting at just $8 for seniors, students and military.
