
Fighting Falcons Begin Quest for the Cup Thursday & Friday at McMorran

PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Fighting Falcons, proud members of the North American Hockey League, won their last eight games of the 2012-13 regular season to clinch the fourth seed in the North division. The team will begin their quest for the Robertson Cup when they host the first two games of a best-of-three playoff series against the Johnstown Tomahawks.
The Fighting Falcons and Tomahawks will face off Thursday and Friday night at McMorran Arena. Each game will start at 7 p.m. If necessary, the Tomahawks would host game three Sunday at Cambria County War Memorial Arena in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.
Playoff tickets go on sale Monday at 10 a.m. at the McMorran Arena Box Office. Adult tickets will sell for just $8, while tickets for senior citizens, students and military will be just $7.
The Fighting Falcons won six of their eight regular season matchups against the Tomahawks, including three of four on home ice. Among Port Huron's six victories are an overtime win and a shootout win.
Captain Rick DeRosa leads the way for the Fighting Falcons with eight points on two goals and six assists in eight games against Johnstown during the regular season. Goalies Max Milosek and Alex Blankenburg each carry a 3-1-0 record against the Tomahawks into the playoffs.
Port Huron's Tyler Spezia brings an NAHL-best 11-game point streak into the playoffs. Spezia has 18 points on eight goals and ten assists during the streak, which started on February 16. Spezia has yet to face Johnstown this season.
Casey Nelson and Cody Gylling lead Johnstown with six points apiece against Port Huron this season. Three Tomahawks goalies saw action against the Fighting Falcons in the regular season, with Chris Truehl earning both Johnstown victories.
In the other North division playoff matchup, the third-seed Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings take on the Springfield Jr. Blues, who earned a playoff spot by winning their regular season finale and overtaking the Janesville Jets for the sixth seed. The North division's top two seeded teams, the Soo Eagles and Jamestown Ironmen have earned a first-round bye.
