Lone Star Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX - For the second straight night the Brahmas put up six on the Odessa Jackalopes, completing the sweep on Saturday.
A hot start was a key factor for tonight's offense as Peter Kessel struck twice in the first period to set the tone. Hogan Davidson assisted on both, the beginning of a special night for him. The two early goals were enough for Jacks head coach Greg Gatto to yank his starting netminder, Dean Shatzer. However, before the first period came to a conclusion of the fist Davidson added a tally of his own at the 13:42 mark. The original shot off of the tape rocked new netminder Jon Flakne in the helmet, stunning him and allowing Davidson to tap it in. After the goal light flickered, then Flakne was removed the game.
With Shatzer back in to start the second, Pierce Pluemer gave him a power play goal of support to start. Despite the cutting of the lead, Johan Lundgren answered with a power play goal of his own with assists coming from Berardinelli and Davidson.
In the final frame is when things got dicey, marred with a line brawl taking place at the 5:01 mark. Bud Madej, David Marabella, Carson Kelley, and Sean Giles were all removed from the game as a result and on the Odessa side Connor Wood, Taylor Gatto, and Matthew Rypien all had their nights ended. It all came just minutes after Tomas Brejcha and Ryan MacKellar dropped the gloves.
Aside from the ejections, Giles and Dalton Skelly were the goal scorers, thus bringing the total six.
Behind it all Corbin Kaczperski earns his 21st win of the season stopping 15 of 16.
