The Hamilton Bulldogs announced today that the 5th Annual Molson Canadian Hamilton Bulldogs Charity Golf Classic will take place on Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006, at Century Pines Golf Club in Flamborough, Ontario.
For the second consecutive year, proceeds from the event will support the great work being done by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hamilton and Burlington, and the Hamilton Bulldogs Youth Fund.
"We are pleased to once again include a partner such as Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hamilton and Burlington as a mutual beneficiary of fan and corporate support of the Bulldogs through the Molson Canadian Hamilton Bulldogs Charity Golf Classic", said Brian Lewis, the Hamilton Bulldogs Executive Director of Operations. "The tournament is an exciting event that has helped us raise over $80,000 for local charities in its first four years, and we look forward to once again making a significant donation to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hamilton and Burlington this year, to support the great work that they have, and continue to do for the youth in our community".
Dave Bowen, Chairperson of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hamilton and Burlington Board of Directors added, "We are extremely grateful again this year to work closely with the Hamilton Bulldogs in an effort to help children across our community. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hamilton and Burlington served approximately 600 children last year. We are currently working with about 400 children in programs, and there are another 320 are on the waiting list. It is only through the encouragement and financial support of public-minded groups such as the Hamilton Bulldogs that we can continue this work, and we are grateful to them".
Golfers are invited to join Honourary Co-Chairpersons Harry Howell (Hamilton native, Honoured Member of the Hockey Hall of Fame), and Ric Nattress (Former NHL'er, 1989 Stanley Cup Champion) at this fifth annual event. Hamilton Bulldogs coaches Don Lever and Ron Wilson, many current and former "ËDogs players, and a number of other sports and media celebrities are expected to be in attendance.
