Minot Skyrockets News Release
Minot, ND - November 12, 2007 - The Minot Skyrockets announced today the return of Ronnie Fields to the Skyrockets roster, pending league approval. Fields is a 6' 4" / 225 lbs. guard who played for the Skyrockets last season. He joined the Skyrockets on January 17, 2007 and played 16 games, averaging 16.3 points and 4.4 rebounds. He also had 23 steals, an average of 1.4 per game.
This will be Fields' sixth season playing under Head Coach Chris Daleo. During that time, he led the CBA in scoring and steals for two straight seasons (2002-03, 2003-04), the only player in league history to accomplish this. He was also a two-time CBA All-Star and the 1997 CBA Slam Dunk Champion.
While playing for the Skyrockets last year, Fields broke the 5,000-point mark on February 2, 2007 against the Indiana Alley Cats. He finished the 2006-07 season with 5,154 career CBA points, good for 11th among the All-Time CBA Points Leaders. He also ended the season with 619 career steals, putting him 6th in the All-Time CBA Leaders for steals.
Fields joins the Skyrockets for veterans' camp which continues until Wednesday when the final roster is due to the league office. The 10-man team will then travel to Butte, Montana for a back-to-back series against the Daredevils on November 16th and 17th. The Skyrockets first home game will be on November 30th against the Rio Grande Valley Silverados.
