Lake County Fielders News Release

Zion, Ill. - The Lake County Fielders' (40-59) offense struggled against Rockford's starter Kyle Wright on Sunday afternoon in a 8-2 loss in game three of the four game set.

The RiverHawks (47-51) jumped on Alec Lewis early in the first inning after Lewis issued a lead off walk to John Wagle and two basehits from Jake Eigsti and Victor Diaz loaded the bases. Rich Austin plated Wagle with a single and Evan McArthur plated two runs off an RBI single to give Rockford an early 3-0 lead.

Guillermo Martinez and Kyle Higgins led off the Fielders half of the first with back-to-back singles. Higgins came around to score on an RBI single off the bat of Josh Short to make the score 3-1.

The RiverHawks increased their lead by one in the third after Rich Austin scored Eigsti on a fielder's choice. Austin was picked off at second base for the third out of the inning. They took a 6-1 lead after Victor Diaz and Rich Austin hit back-to-back home runs off Lewis in the sixth.

The Fielders added one in the eighth off a Josh Short RBI single, but that's all the runs Lake County would get off RiverHawks starter Kyle Wright (10-3). Wright threw all nine innings, surrendering nine hits for two runs while striking out eight and walking one in his tenth win of the year.

Alec Lewis was tagged with the loss after going six innings giving up eight hits, six runs, two walks and striking out a season high eight batters.

The RiverHawks capped the scoring off David Wasylak with a two-run homer in the ninth off the bat of Eigsti to seal the 8-2 victory.

The Fielders wrap up the series and their 2010 inaugural season Monday night at 6:00pm on a Sports Physical Therapy and Rehab Specialists Fireworks Night.
