Walla Walla Sweets News Release
WALLA WALLA, Wash. - The Walla Walla Sweets in partnership with Columbia Rural Electric Association are excited to announce the return of the Field of Dreams program. The program, which allows local children to join Sweets players on the field for the starting lineups and national anthem, will once again be part of the Sweets pre-game festivities.
"The Field of Dreams program provides a unique opportunity to children in the community," said Sweets general manager Katie Baxter. "It has been very popular over the last four seasons and we are excited to once again partner with Columbia R.E.A. to bring it back for our fifth season."
The Field of Dreams program allows individual children and youth teams to sign up to run out onto the Borleske Stadium field with Walla Walla Sweets players. To sign up, parents must complete a form for each child who wishes to participate. Forms can be picked up at the Columbia REA Walla Walla office, located at 2929 Melrose Street or at the Dayton Office located at 115 E. Main St. Teams who participate will also need to complete one form for each member of the team. Participating children are given a free Field of Dreams t-shirt and a General Admission ticket.
Walla Walla Sweets baseball begins on June 5 at 7:05 P.M. at Borleske Stadium when the Sweets kick off their fifth season with a game against an alumni squad of returning Sweets players. The first Field of Dreams presented by Columbia REA will be Thursday, June 6 at 7:05 P.M. when the Sweets open West Coast League play against the Bellingham Bells.
Single game tickets for the Sweets 2014 season are on sale now and can be purchased at the Sweets Shoppe in downtown, online at wallawallasweets.com, or by calling 509.522.BALL.
