November 29, 2010 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Tri-Cities Fever News Release
Last week was a busy week for the Tri-Cities Fever as coach Adam Shacklefordcontinued recruiting and signedlinebacker Jason Beauchamp. Beauchamp, who led the Mountain West Conference in tackles in 2009 at UNLV, is what Shackleford says in a key piece to his defense for the 2011 season.
"Jason exemplifies what we are looking for in a football player," Shackleford said. "On the field, he is as dominant as they come and off the field he has tremendous character. We are certain that he will make an immediate impact for us."
Beauchamp (6-foot-3, 235 pounds) is latest of big signings for the Fever as Shackleford continues to assemble his 2011 roster. In the past two weeks he has added nine players.
Beauchamp was invited to the 2010 NFL combined and signed as a free agent with the New Orleans Saints. During the NFL combine he recorded a 29.5 inch vertical jump, the highest among linebackers at the combine.
Beauchamp led the Rebels in tackles for two consecutive seasons, including 127 with 6.5 sacks in 2009. He ranks second in school history with 334 total tackles. He also holds the UNLV record for most games played with 48.
