
Federal, state and local dignitaries team up with Altitude to salute soldiers

ASHEVILLE, N.C., March 11 - North Carolina dignitaries from all levels of government will join the Asheville Altitude and the Haywood County Chamber of Commerce in recognizing the North Carolina National Guard's 210th and 211th Military Police Companies and the 161st Medical Support Battalion during the "Support Our Soldiers Night with the Altitude", Saturday, March 13.
The nationally televised game (NBA TV taped delayed) will feature special presentations by Congressman Charles Taylor and Jewell Wilson from the office of U.S. Senator John Edwards, N.C. Senator Bob Carpenter, and N.C. House Representative Wilma Sherill, who will be on-hand to present proclamations and salute our "Most Valued Citizens".
"We are delighted that our Community Leaders have joined us in this effort to acknowledge our service men and women who provide and protect our freedoms," said Alfred White, team president. "Giving our community a platform to say thank you, in addition to giving an ovation, is the least we can do.
Local politicians in attendance will include Buncombe County Board of Commissioners' Chair Nathan Ramsey and Henderson County Board of Commissioners Chair Grady Hawkins, as well as Asheville Mayor Charlie Worley.
Tickets are still available in the upper bowl seating section for $9. Floor seating is available for $35. In addition, for each $9 ticket sold to the "Support Our Soldiers Night', the Altitude will donate $3 to the Military Family Support Group of the 161st, the 210th and the 211th units. Tipoff is set for 7:15 p.m.
