FCC Brings in Top Scorer in Heinemann

CINCINNATI, OH - Striker Tommy Heinemann is the second member of the San Francisco Deltas to join FC Cincinnati in 2018 and will be reunited with teammate Tyler Gibson, who was announced in mid-November. Heinemann brings an impressive resume that includes NASL and USL titles and a USL MVP nod.

"Tommy is a big and strong center-forward who leads through his actions," Head Coach Alan Koch commented. "Not only does he score goals, but his work-rate defensively sets the tone for the entire team. He was a major part of why the San Francisco Deltas won the NASL this last season and we anticipate that he will be a big part of our team. We look forward to welcoming him and his family to Cincinnati."

Heinemann, a St. Louis native, played with NASL champions San Francisco Deltas last year and was the team's top scorer with 10 goals to go along with two assists over 31 appearances that included the club's championship run. He also scored twice in three matches in U.S. Open Cup action.

Heinemann crossed paths with the Orange and Blue in 2016 as a member of the Tampa Bay Rowdies. He did not see the pitch in the team's match against FCC due to injury but did watch his former side claim a 1-0 win and during the regular season, scored four goals and an assist in 26 appearances for the Rowdies.

In 2015, Heinemann was Ottawa Fury FC's top scorer, netting 12 goals. He had four assists and made 30 appearances that included 19 starts and action in the Canadian Championship. In his first year with the Fury, Heinemann tallied six goals and an assist while making 18 appearances.

He broke through to Major League Soccer, making his first-division debut with Columbus Crew in 2011. As a member of the Crew, Heinemann scored three goals and an assist while making 29 appearances and 12 starts, helping the club reach playoffs. In 2013, he landed with Vancouver Whitecaps and had two goals and assist, including notching a tally in the Canadian Championship.

In 2010 Heinemann was with the Carolina Railhawks, where he tacked on six goals and two assists to the team's total over 12 appearances and helped the team reach the NASL championship fixture.

He can also lay claim to a USL title, hoisting the hardware with Charleston Battery. Playing in 2009 and 2010, Heinemann was the championship game's Most Valuable Player after logging a two-assist effort. The Battery were also the league champions and the five-time USL Team of the Week honoree finished the season as the USL's leader in assists with seven to go along with seven goals. Over the two seasons, he made 39 appearances in USL action and saw the pitch in five games in the U.S. Open Cup.

He debuted as a professional with the Saint Louis Lions in 2006 and totaled an impressive 35 goals in 37 matches played over three seasons. Heinemann was a three-year letterwinner at Rockhurt University with 36 goals and 21 assists for the Hawks and he was a member of the 2004 state championship team at Christian Brothers College High School.
