
FC Tampa Bay Signs Keith Savage to Bolster Midfield

TAMPA, Fla. (February 22, 2011) - FC Tampa Bay announces the signing of attacking midfielder Keith Savage to a one-year contract, along with a one-year club option for 2012. Savage, a Gulf Breeze, Fla. native, most recently played for Portland from 2009-2010.
While with the Timbers, Savage appeared in 40 matches, scoring three goals and recording three assists. During the 2009 season, he was one of only two players to appear in all 30 regular season matches. Savage was also a part of the squad which set a USL-1 record with a 24-game unbeaten streak during the 2009 regular season and which won the 2009 USL-1 Commissioner's Cup. Savage was limited in the beginning of the 2010 season due to injury but appeared in 10 games with eight starts at the end of the season.
Savage was drafted in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft by Chivas USA (43rd overall) as their only pick in the draft and later signed with the Timbers in USL-1.
Savage also played for the Central Florida Kraze in USL PDL from 2006-2007, making 22 appearances and scoring 12 goals.
Savage began his soccer tenure at the University of West Florida (UWF), where he was named a NSCAA All-American in 2006. During his four seasons, he scored 33 goals, which is the fourth-highest in UWF school history.
