CHARLESTON, South Carolina - FC Montreal won 3-1 against the Battery, this Saturday night at Charleston's MUSC Health Stadium.

Anthony Jackson-Hamel, Ballou Jean-Yves Tabla and Louis Beland-Goyette scored for the Bleu-blanc-noir, while Maikel Chang scored for Charleston.

Charleston forward Romario Williams, on loan from the Montreal Impact, had his first chance to score in the 34th minute when a defender sent him a long pass. Alone in the box, he found Maxime Crepeau on his way.

Montreal scored the first goal of the game in the 39th minute. Ballou Jean-Yves Tabla passed to Mastanabal Kacher, who backheeled the ball back to him in the box. Tabla dribbled and, as he saw the 'keeper coming out of his net, passed to Anthony Jackson-Hamel who scored in an empty net.

In the 64th minute, Tabla intercepted a pass in midfield and sprang forward. He took a low shot from just outside the box and scored his fifth goal of the season.

Charleston started to put more pressure and sent many crosses in Montreal's box. In the 78th minute, Maikel Chang took advantage of it. After Crepeau got a touch on a cross, Chang scored on the rebound.

A few minutes later, on a counterattack, Zachary Sukunda passed to Anthony Jackson-Hamel in the box. Fighting for the ball with the defender, Jackson-Hamel slid to the ground to push the ball to Louis Beland-Goyette, who took a precise shot into the top of the net to score his first goal this season in the 86th minute.

"We wanted to have a similar performance as the one we had three days ago, but away from home," said head coach Philippe Eullaffroy. "The boys answered well with a high quality first half. They had the right attitude in the last 30 metres. They were also solid in the second half and didn't give many chances. Again, it proves that despite the results, the players never quit. The goal is bigger than the results. For them, it's their future."

"Before the game, we all wanted to do what we needed to win," said Louis Beland-Goyette. "We got much better in the last third and we see it. We take good decisions."

FC Montreal will play its next game on Sunday, August 21, at 3pm, against Bethlehem Steel FC at the Claude-Robillard Sports Complex.
