FC Montreal News Release

MONTREAL - FC Montreal lost 4-2 against the New York Red Bulls II on Saturday afternoon at the Claude-Robillard Sports Complex.

Red Bulls forward Brandon Allen scored a hat trick to lift his team to three points. He scored his first goal on a penalty kick in the 18th minute, after the referee called a handball in the box.

A few minutes later, on a free kick from the left played into Montreal's box, Allen scored his second of the game by kicking a lost ball in the penalty area into the back of the net in the 24th minute.

Before halftime, Yacine Ait Slimane crossed the ball into the box for winger Ballou Jean-Yves Tabla who scored on a wonderful diving header into the left corner in the 41st minute.

Back from the locker room, the Red Bulls took their two-goal lead back when Junior Flemmings scored on his first touch after a pass from the left flank into the box.

In the 70th minute, Allen completed his hat trick. The forward ran through on goal and took a low shot from outside the box, beating goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau to his right.

In the last moments of the game, FC Montreal had a number of chances to score and come from behind. In the 84th minute, Janouk Charbonneau scored on a pass from Badreddine Boulajoul in the penalty area for his first goal at the professional level. This was also Boulajoul's first assist in his first game, as he replaced Anthony Jackson-Hamel in the 72nd minute.

"New York is a really strong team in the way that they are organized and with how they defend," said head coach Philippe Eullaffroy. "It's unfortunate that we allow that goal shortly after halftime. When our back is against the wall and we react and score, we always offer something better."

"We came into that game too timidly. We had problems coming out from the back," said defender Brandon Onkony, who got his first start in the USL.

FC Montreal will play its next game against the Rochester Rhinos - a third meeting between the rivals this season - on Saturday, July 16, at 7:05pm EDT at Rochester Rhinos Stadium.
