FC Montreal Hosts Louisville City FC this Saturday

FC Montreal News Release

MONTREAL - FC Montreal will look to keep its five-game unbeaten streak alive this Saturday at 3pm when it hosts Louisville City FC at the Claude-Robillard Sports Complex.

Fans will enter the Claude-Robillard Sports Complex on the Southwest side of the field, starting at 2pm. Ticket cost $5, with $1 going to the Montreal Impact Foundation. Admission is free for season ticket holders on presentation of their membership card.

After Wednesday's 2-2 draw against Wilmington, Montreal has collected 13 points out of a possible 15 since August 10, which has helped the team to one of the best points tallies in USL during the month of August.

"We know that our last game was not our best, but we managed to get a point," said defender Nevello Yoseke. "We have to stay positive when facing Louisville and believe that we can keep our unbeaten streak going. We are confident and excited for this game."

In this series of games, first team forward Anthony Jackson-Hamel has scored five goals in five games, while winger Alessandro Riggi has scored four goals in his last six games - he has now tallied six times this season.

"We are expecting a really good team that plays with the ball," said head coach Philippe Eullaffroy. "It's a quality opponent. The difficulty is that we play our ninth game in five weeks. We need a maximum of physical and mental freshness to deal with the quality of our opponent. After the game in Wilmington, the players' first thought was that, if we don't play better against Louisville, it's unrealistic to get a point in this game. The good thing is that the game against Wilmington can lead the players to telling themselves that we need to be two steps ahead this time."

Montreal lost its last game against Louisville 2-0 on July 4 at the Louisville Slugger Field. Since then, the team from Kentucky has only won three of nine games but remains second in the Eastern Conference and in the overall USL standings.

The team will come to Montreal without its starting goalkeeper Gregory Ranjitsingh, who has been called up by the Trinidadian team to play the CONCACAF qualification games for the 2018 World Cup. The starting role will be given to Timothy Dobrowolski or Joseph Goodwin.

With 43 goals scored this season, Louisville is also the second-best attack in the East, largely thanks to the efficiency Jon Chandler Hoffman, second-top scorer in the USL with 14 goals.

FC Montreal will play its next game on Wednesday, September 7, at 2pm at the Claude-Robillard Sports Complex against the Charleston Battery.
