Penn FC News Release
Harrisburg, PA - The City Islanders have announced that their upcoming match that was originally scheduled to be played against New York Red Bulls II at Red Bull Arena on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 will now be played at Millersville University.
"When New York Red Bulls II requested an alternative venue for Saturday's match we happily accepted the opportunity to host." said City Islanders CEO Eric Pettis. "We are thrilled to be able to provide our fans with another chance to watch the City Islanders close to home this season."
NYRB II sit in first place in the USL Eastern Conference with a record of 10-1-1 on the road this season. They currently hold the best record overall in USL, at 17-3-5 with the most goals scored (48) and best goal differential (+30). The City Islanders sit one spot outside of the USL post season with a record of 7-14-6 and 27 points overall.
"In order to provide the highest quality field surface for both our USL and MLS teams as they hit the stretch runs of their seasons, we have agreed with Harrisburg to move our scheduled USL home match," said NYRB II General Manager and Red Bull Arena VP of Operations Shaun Oliver. "With our MLS team already playing on the road this weekend, this break will allow the Red Bull Arena pitch to return to the standard that has come to be expected by both our players and opposing teams."
The additional home match will kick off at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 7 at Pucillo Field on the Millersville University campus. Gates will open 90 minutes prior to kickoff. All general admission tickets will be available for in advance for $5. Millersville students, staff and faculty will receive free admission in advance.
Furthermore, the decision has been made by the City Islanders to relocate their final regular season home match against the Wilmington Hammerheads, which was scheduled to be played at Clipper Magazine Stadium on Saturday, September 17 to Millersville University.
The match will now be played on September 17 at 7:00 p.m. at Pucillo Field. All season tickets will be honored and individual general admission tickets purchased in advance from Clipper Magazine Stadium will be refunded. Fans will have the option to purchase $5 general admission tickets in advance or at the gate at Millersville University. Again, all Millersville students, staff and faculty will receive free admission in advance.
"The Millersville University soccer facility is top notch and we are thrilled to host our remaining matches of the 2016 season there." said Pettis. "We encourage all of our fans to come out and support their local professional soccer club during the most crucial matches of the season."
