
FC Dallas Signs Central Defender Steve Purdy

FRISCO, TX (Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009) - FC Dallas General Manager Michael Hitchcock today announced that the team has signed 23-year-old defender Steve Purdy. Purdy joins Dallas from German club 1860 Munich of the 2.Bundesliga. Per League and team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
After playing four years at the University of California from 2003-2006, Purdy signed with 1860 Munich in January 2007. The LA Galaxy selected the central defender with the fifth overall selection in the 2007 MLS Supplemental Draft but no longer retain his rights.
He has also represented the U.S. National Team at all levels.
