FC Dallas Selects Three Players in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft

FRISCO, Texas (Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009) - FC Dallas today selected Generation adidas and University of Michigan forward Peri Marosevic with the fifth overall pick in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft held at the St. Louis Convention Center in Missouri. With an additional first round pick in the 14th overall spot, Dallas selected 21-year-old defender George John from the University of Washington. FCD finished the draft by selecting Brian Shriver, a forward from the University of North Carolina, with the 12th pick in the second round (27th overall).

1st Round, 5th Overall:

FCD selects Generation adidas forward Peri Marosevic from the University of Michigan. The 19-year-old scored 24 goals and added seven assists in three years at Michigan. He has also been a member of the U.S. U-17 and U-20 national teams.

FCD selects 6'3 defender George John from the University of Washington. John made 65 appearances throughout his four years at Washington, scoring nine goals and eight assists, and was named to the First Team All-Pac-10 in 2007 and 2008.

FCD selects University of North Carolina forward Brian Shriver. Shriver scored 22 goals and 11 assists in 88 appearances at North Carolina. The 22-year-old capped off his college career by earning First Team All-ACC and NCAA College Cup All-Tournament Team honors in 2008.
