FC Cincinnati to Celebrate MLS Berth Saturday with Special Programming
July 24, 2018 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
FC Cincinnati News Release
CINCINNATI - On Saturday, July 28, FC Cincinnati will celebrate its upcoming ascension to Major League Soccer with a host of special activities at the team's international friendly against La Liga's RCD Espanyol, which is presented by Cincinnati Bell.
Tickets to the game start at $15 and are available at fccincinnati.com/tickets, or by calling 513-977-KICK (5425). All price levels are still available, including inventory in The Bailey - which is sold out for regular-season games through season tickets.
The cornerstone event of Saturday's celebration, FC Cincinnati will offer a special halftime program featuring club owners - including Carl H. Lindner III - and President and General Manager Jeff Berding, as well as special videos and on-field entertainment.
On their way into the game, every fan in attendance will receive a commemorative MLS celebration poster, featuring a picture from Cincinnati's public celebration at Fountain Square during the league's announcement in May. Before the game, fans will also have the opportunity to pose with special life-sized MLS letters and other FCC props in front of the backdrop used at the MLS Announcement. This set-up will be located on the east side of the stadium by Gate 2.
Following the game, FC Cincinnati players will participate in special activities on the field, including a 30-minute autograph session and a kick-around with youth fans in attendance. (Fans looking to participate in the kick-around will be required to fill out waiver forms before playing.)
Currently sitting atop the entire USL with a 13-3-5 record and 44 points, FC Cincinnati holds a nine-point lead in the Eastern Conference standings. FCC will move from the USL to MLS for the 2019 season, and will unveil its MLS brand update later this fall.
Following the Espanyol game, FC Cincinnati returns to USL action on Saturday, August 4, when the team hosts a "Blue Out" game at Nippert Stadium against Nashville SC. Tickets for all games - including Saturday's international friendly against Espanyol - are available at fccincinnati.com/tickets or by calling 513-977-KICK (5425).
