FC Cincinnati 2 Acquire Mario Penagos on Loan from Sacramento Republic FC

FC Cincinnati 2 have acquired midfielder Mario Penagos on a loan with an option to purchase through the 2022 season from Sacramento Republic FC of the USL Championship, pending league and federation approval. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Penagos, 20, earned a first team contract with SRFC in January 2020 after a five-year career with the club's youth academy, where he netted 54 goals across 124 appearances.

Last season, Penagos set career-highs in appearances and minutes. He led SRFC Academy players with 21 total appearances (including 13 starts), logging at least 60 minutes in 12 matches. He became the second academy product in club history to log over 1,000 minutes in a single season.
