Fayetteville Force News Release

The Fayetteville Force announced today that it has signed defensive back Armar Watson to a contract for the upcoming 2011 season. Watson, who last played for the Baltimore Mariners of the American Indoor Football Association (AIFA), played collegiately at Pittsburgh's Duquesne University.

A native of Forestville, Maryland, Watson brings to the Force exceptional defensive awareness, in particular a unique ball-hawking ability. As a member of the Mariners, he led the AIFA with 17 interceptions in 2009 and again with 12 in 2010. To conclude a perfect 16-0 regular season, Watson helped the Mariners win the AIFA Championship in 2010. Overall, he has collected over 60 takeaways and five All-League awards in a five-year indoor football career.

‚¬Å“Words can't express the excitement I have for Armar as a member of the Force, ‚¬Â said head coach Marquette Smith. ‚¬Å“His defensive dominance over the last two seasons - for the majority of his career, for that matter - makes him one of the most dangerous defenders in the SIFL. ‚¬Â

Watson steps in as the cornerstone of the Force's defensive strategy. His success and approach to the game will allow him to lead a strong defensive attack that is expected to generate many turnovers. Watson anticipates the challenge of continuing his exceptional production with the brand-new Force this season.

‚¬Å“I'm really excited to join the Fayetteville Force for this season, ‚¬Â said Watson. ‚¬Å“This is a new team but we won't be taken lightly. We're looking forward to having a great and memorable first season in the SIFL. ‚¬Â

The Fayetteville Force will kick off the upcoming season in March 2011 and will play all of its home games at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, NC. Ticket packages for the 2011 season are now available with season tickets available for as low as $60.00. Tickets are available by visiting the Force on the web at www.fayettevilleforce.net or by calling the Force offices at (910)920-9200.
