Fayetteville Force Sign DB J.R. Hair
February 14, 2011 - Southern Indoor Football League (SIFL)
Fayetteville Force News Release
The Fayetteville Force announced today that it has signed defensive back J.R. Hair to a contract for the upcoming 2011 season. Hair, who attended Cape Fear High School and was an All-American defensive back at Greensboro College, remains in his hometown after spending last season with the former Fayetteville Guard.
Hair started off at cornerback collegiately for 3 years, but moved to free safety the following season, recording the 2nd most interceptions in his school history in 2005. Hair led the league with 8 interceptions in his junior season and set a record with a 69 yard punt return for a touchdown.
¬ÅJ.R. brings the unique combination of size and speed to our defensive secondary, ¬Â said defensive coordinator Charles Gunnings. ¬ÅI've worked with him for a couple of years, so I'm familiar with his playing style. He's a heavy hitter and is no stranger to big plays, whether with his hands or his body. I'm definitely excited to have him on board. ¬Â
In four years of indoor football, the 6-foot-1, 180-pound Hair has accumulated 367 tackles to go along with 11 forced fumbles. As a rookie, Hair started in every game due to his amazing talents. In the last two seasons, Hair recorded 12 interceptions as a premier defensive back on the former Fayetteville Guard. He brings a hard-hitting style to a defense that already features two shutdown corners in Armar Watson and JeRome Mann, furthering the notion that the Force may possess the most dominant defensive secondary in the SIFL.
Hair's dedication and fierce, all-out style has inspired his teammates and proves why he has been a defensive player from the moment he became a part of Indoor Football. ¬ÅI have yet to win a championship, ¬Â said Hair, ¬Åbut this year feels to be promising. I'm proud to be a part of [the Force], and together we will bring home a championship to Fayetteville. ¬Â
The Fayetteville Force will kick off the upcoming season in March 2011 and will play all of its home games at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, NC. Ticket packages for the 2011 season are now available with season tickets available for as low as $60.00. Tickets are available by visiting the Force on the web at www.fayettevilleforce.net or by calling the Force offices at (910)920-9200.
