
Fayetteville Acquires Dickens, Waives Dryden

GREENVILLE, S.C., December 13 - The Fayetteville Patriots have acquired forward Kaniel Dickens from the NBA Development League available player pool and waived center Robb Dryden due to injury.
Dickens, 6-8, 215, was in vet camp with the Dallas Mavericks this year, averaging 6.0 points and 1.3 rebounds in three preseason games. Dickens, who played collegiately at Tyler Junior College and the University of Idaho, has played in the NBA with Portland and New Jersey.
This is Dickens' second stint in the D-League and with the Patriots, having played 27 games with Fayetteville and Mobile during the 2001-02 season after being the Patriots first pick in the 2001 Supplemental Draft. He averaged 13.9 minutes, 5.1 points and 2.4 rebounds during that span. Dickens played in 25 games for the Idaho Stampede (CBA) last season, averaging 34.3 minutes, 18.8 points and 7.2 rebounds.
Dryden played in eight games (five starts) for Fayetteville, averaging 12.6 minutes, 3.4 points and 2.0 rebounds.
Dickens is expected to be in uniform when the Patriots travel to Florida for a two-game set on Friday and Saturday. He will wear jersey No. 28.
