
Fast Start Propels Magic to Victory

HIDALGO, Texas ---- Quarterback Billy Garza threw a season high of eight touchdown passes and had 350 passing yards to propel the Rio Grande Valley Magic to victory over the Laredo Rattlesnakes 81-41 on Monday night at the State Farm Arena.
With the victory, the Magic improve to 4-2 on the season while Laredo falls to 2-5.
The Magic got on the board in the first possession of the on a 1 yard run from Antwan Cobb out for a quick 6-0 lead. After a Laredo touchdown from Matt Jeffers to Jerome McGee from 10 yards out, the Magic scored the next two touchdowns from Billy Garza.
Laredo would get close in the second quarter on an Oliver Pryor score from a yard out and the score would be 20-14. That is as close as Laredo got on the evening.
The Magic would go on and score a couple of more times and traded touchdowns for a 40-27 halftime.
There will be a meet and greet the RGV Magic on Tuesday May 22, 2012 at the Hampton Inn and Suites located at 2505 Victoria Drive in Mission, TX. Players, Dance Team, and Kazaam the Mascot will be available for pictures and autographs starting at 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The Magic will have a road game against the Amarillo Venom on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the Cal Farley Coliseum with the kickoff at 7:05 p.m.
The Magic will have their next home game on Monday, June 4, 2012, as they will host the West Texas Roughnecks at the State Farm Arena with the kickoff at 7:05 p.m. The Magic will wear commemorative pink jerseys and use pink footballs throughout the game. The first 500 fans will receive pink replica RGV Magic jerseys. After the game, the Magic will auction off the jerseys and footballs with all the proceeds going to a breast cancer foundation.
